Introduction

Urbineer is looking for a CNC Prototype Machinist to be part of our team and will play a vital role in developing next generation vehicle platforms. As a member of our team, you will be involved with a variety of projects: machining flightworthy thin-walled aerospace metallic parts, assembly tool fixtures, composite lamination masters and tools, precision robotic system components, and propulsion system mechanisms. You will be working in a challenging and fast paced work environment on multidisciplinary teams..

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Machine high-quality, precision parts and tooling in a variety of materials
  • Provide manufacturing feedback to engineering to improve part producibility
  • Operate mills, lathes, drill presses, saws, grinders, and sheet metal fabrication equipment
  • Handle material from rough stock to finished parts
  • Design and fabricate custom tools as required
  • Read drawings and other design documents as well as interpret verbal design instructions
  • Performing in-process inspection to ensure dimensional accuracy of part features
  • Work with the development team to create and maintain build schedules

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

  • 5+ years’ experience as a machinist
  • 3+ years’ experience with Hass or equivalent CNC machines
  • Demonstrated fluency with MasterCAM or equivalent software
  • Experience with stainless, aluminum, titanium, and other exotic metals, as well as composites
  • Proficiency safely operating mills, lathes, drill presses, saws, and grinders
  • Flexibility to learn quickly in a fast-growing environment with aggressive timelines
  • Strong technical, mechanical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to lift 40 lb. without aid

Preferred

  • Familiarity with 5-axis CNC programming and operation
  • 10+ years’ experience as a machinist
  • 5+ years’ experience with Hass CNCs
  • Experience operating a manual mill
  • Familiarity operating metrology tools such as trackers and arms
  • Computer skills a plus (MS Office, Outlook, etc.)
